Man. The first show after a marathon show is always so nice and relaxed. I played a lot of brand new music in between all the chatter, whining and begging that makes up a marathon show and I was afraid a lot of people may have missed it so I tried to get a lot of it back into last night’s show. Speaking of marathon, I would like to say that by Friday afternoon last week the show had met (and exceeded) it’s goal. So, props to all of y’all for that.

Now, about this week’s show. Late yesterday afternoon I saw that Levon had passed so I decided to bookend the show with him as a form of tribute. In between we got brand new songs from Will Quinlan & The Diviners, Joe Pug, Alone At 3AM, Tim Barr, The Only Sons and plenty more as well as an all requests segment of the show. All in all, I think the show turned out pretty strong and I would highly suggest you spend an hour of your day checking out the archived stream of it.

Last night’s show was the marathon show and Ninebullets Radio fell incredibly short of it’s goal. At the end of the show we were still $435 short of our $1600 goal. It’s always nice to meet the goal while on the air but it’s not too late. If you want to help close the gap please follow this link and contribute to the show. Every little bit helps and right now, we need your help.

On another marathon note….Ninebullets Radio did raise $1165 dollars last night and, at least to a poor man like me, that’s nothing to scoff at. I wanna thank everyone who called in or contributed to the show via the web. It’s because of people like you that community radio survives and (at times) thrives in the cultural wasteland that is the airwaves.

It may have been marathon and there may have been a shit ton of talking but stuck in between all those words and worries was some pretty damn good music. We’re talking brand new songs from Will Quinlan, Cory Branan, Tim Barry, Joe Pug and Alone At 3AM. Not to shabby for a marathon show if I do say so myself so you’ll probably wanna check out that archived stream of the show.

It’s marathon time for WMNF and Ninebullets Radio and that means I am asking y’all to show a little support for the radio show.

I am being asked to raise 1600 dollars tomorrow night and I’d love to get a head start on it. So, if you like the music I play, like that there is a show on the air that plays these bands, appreciate the work that goes into getting unreleased songs for the show, appreciate that there is a radio station that let’s someone like me on the air…..whatever the reason. Maybe you’re a band we play on the show or we’ve supported via Kickstarter over the last couple of years….whatever it is….Ninebullets Radio needs your support during this funds drive.

Without being all doomy and gloomy, the major marathons, spring and fall, weigh heavily when the station is deciding what shows stay on the station and what shows get canned. I know it sounds harsh the reality of community radio is that it only survives via the generosity of the listeners.

It is easy to hope that someone else will foot the bill, but it’s rewarding to say that you were part of supporting a show you believe in. So, if you enjoy Ninebullets Radio or believe that shows like Ninebullets Radio have a place in the ever dwindling community radio air space, please 10 bucks (more or less is awesome too) in the tip jar.

The traffic was back to normal last night and the show went off without a hitch. It’s chock full of new music from the likes of McDougall, The Grand Tetons, The Parlor Soldiers, Lucero and Arliss Nancy. I also played a fantastic track off the new Counting Crows album that’s a cover of Kasey Anderson’s “Like Teenage Gravity” which is immediately followed by a track off Kasey’s upcoming album. Sound good? I thought so, so put your ears on the archived stream of the show.

Also, next week’s show is the marathon show. Ninebullets Radio has 60 minutes to raise $1600 dollars. We’ve never missed a marathon goal which is something I think is a source of pride for both, the show and it’s listeners.
