Danko Jones have put their entire new album, Never Too Loud, up on their myspace player. It is scheduled tp be released in Germany next week (Feb. 29). As I’ve said before; I’d be a liar if I said I wasn’t a fan of Danko Jones….pure rock and roll fun. Check it out.
I do not even know what the friggin’ Fab Channel is but they have an entire Black Keys concert up for streaming so they can’t be all bad.
I was lucky enough to catch The Black Keys a year or so ago at Skipper’s Smokehouse here in Tampa. There were only about 200 people there. I suspect of they ever get back this way the crowd will be way up and the intimacy will be way down. I ain’t mad though. Those guys deserve every bit of success that comes their way.
The Black Keys will perform tonight on Late Night with Conan O’Brien – show begins @ 12:37 AM EST! Check your local NBC affiliate for times in your area.
The Black Keys are one of my favorite bands and definately puton one of the best live shows I have seen in a long time. If this blog had existed in 2005 it certainly would have been the show of the year.
There is another reason for posting about the Conan appearance….Have you heard about the new movie coming out called Black Snake Moan? Starring Samuel L. Jackson and Christina Ricci? You can watch the trailer here. That’s none other than the Black Keys in the trailer! They were also played coming out of commercial break in the Ohio State/Florida game the other night.
One other thing. If you like the tunes you heard in the trailer you can go to the movies main site and listen to the entire soundtrack. It even features Samuel L. Jackson singing. Good or Bad? you decide. Just click on the “Launch Soundtrack Music Player” link in the upper right and a pop-up with selectable songs will come up. Fucking nice soundtrack too!
edit: Track 14 – Samuel L. Jackson – Stack-O-Lee is a muthafuckin’ must listen!
edit #2: Okay, I could not resist so I ripped it from the flash stream….enjoy this: Samuel L. Jackson – Stack-O-Lee(Language not work safe)
The Chris Daughtry guy formed a band after Idol and named it….::::drumroll::::….DAUGHTRY…I am sure that name is indicative of the imagination and originality included inside the cd…..
Badly Drawn Boy – Born in the U.K., C-Murder – The Tru Story: Continued, Cradle of Filth – Thornography (stream it here), Glenn Danzig – Black Aria II, Hi-Tek – Hi-Teknology 2, Sarah McLachlan – Wintersong, Me First and the Gimme Gimmes – Love Their Country (stream it here), Shiny Toy Guns – We Are Pilots (stream it here), Squarepusher – Hello Everything, Xzibit – Full Circle, Blind Melon – Live at the Palace, Nitzer Ebb – Body of Work 1984-1997
Instead of going into some rant about the current state of hip-hop I will just say you can take my drunken rant on Lloyd Banks and insert Piffy, Spliffy, Puffy, Diddy Titty or whatever he is calling himself these days’ name into it and it is 100% accurate. Puffy ain’t hip-hop and furthermore…HE IS A SHITTY RAPPER!….Puffy is bad for hip-hop but good for MTV so expect to hear how great his cd his. and speaking on the name thing…look spiffy; ODB did it first and did it better. EDIT: Big Boi has a guest spot on the cd? It is official….Outkast has jumped the shark….god damned shame too.
Lakeland, Florida quintet ready’s the follow up to the critically and bloggery beloved cd “In Motion”…Due out Oct. 31 it will be titled “Eat, Sleep, Repeat”
