I really don’t know anything about this band, and the internet is not giving up their secrets too readily. Their myspace site states that they’re KateR and Dark Watson, and they hate the war:
Formed on New Year’s Day, 2006 in Joshua Tree, we do not support the war and are asking you to do something to help stop it today. Our songs are less about political jive and more about love, which at this moment is in short supply around the world. We have one record, which was recorded and mixed on January 1st, 2006.
The buddy that gave me the cd-r said it was Tim Easton and Katie Shaw as Tough Sailors and the internets seem to agree with that in as sparse a manner as possible. Honestly, I had no real intention of posting anything about the cd, but it is just too damned good to ignore. It features some originals and some covers, all in a lo-fi manner with a bluesy swing that has made the cd impossible for me to ignore. It appears the only way to get their debut cd, New Years Dog, is to order it from them via the good ol’ United States Post Office using the address on their myspace site.
Tough Sailors – Chase the Feeling
Tough Sailors – Domestic Blues
Tough Sailors – From a Buick 6

I like it. I’ll have to check out that myspace.
