Folks I have to apologize for last week. I just never found my groove at all. So this weeks, maybe first of two, Top 5 is a tribute to every single day last week. This one is a lot easier than the last one, in my opinion, and I am looking forward to all of your lists. In case you missed the last one: I am posting a weekly Top 5 list in the form of a mix tape and you all post your answer to “What are your top five songs for (insert title here)?” So this week’s comes down to: What are the top five songs you queue up when you are having a bad day. And, yeah, mine is schizophrenic…so what?

Track Archive
(As an aside I have a working backend for that cassette tape widget I use and if anyone else wants to use it drop me a note and I’ll hook you up.)
AUTOPSY IV’S SONGS: I think RSV and I are having the same kind of week and I have a playlist on my iPod called “Anger Managment” dedicated soley to bad days. I decided to play a version of the iPod game by queing up the playlist on random and listing the first 5 songs to play. Enjoy:
KMFDM – A Drug Against War
Klute – Desert Storm (remix)
Dr. Dre and Ice Cube – Natural Born Killaz
Pantera – Fucking Hostile
Skinny Puppy – Killing Game
I think this sampling shows you one thing; When I get in a shit mood, I am perfectly content to stay in it.
I look forward to seeing y’all’s Top 5 in the comments.

3. Lucero – Tonight Ain’t Gonna Be Good
4. Slobberbone – Ruin Your Day (pretty much anything off Crow Pot Pie)
5. Tim Barry – Avoiding Catatonic SurrenderAnyone who knows me knows I fail at being angry anyway.

I’ve got a “pissed off DBT” CD in my car I use for days just like this. However, if I were to make a 5 song playlist, it would go something like…
1. Drive-By Truckers — “Hell No, I Ain’t Happy”
2. The Whipsaws – “Bar Scar”
3. Jon Dee Graham – “Laredo (Small Dark Something)”
4. Gov’t Mule w/Dave Schools – “Goin’ Out West” [LIVE]
5. Waylon Jennings & The .357′s – “Ain’t Living Long Like This”
*Based solely on what I have on my iPod today*

I have a “Not Wife Friendly” playlist which has several songs I’d never dream of playing around the wife. From that playlist, a random pull produced the following:
1. Motorhead – Ace of Spades
2. Rise Against – Worth Dying For
3. Monster Magnet – Space Lord
4. Rage Against The Machine – How I Could Just Kill a Man (Cypress Hill)
5. Foo Fighters – All My Life
On
Ministry – Stigmata (live)
Foetus – Anything (Viva!)
The Cure – The Kiss
Nine Inch Nails – Wish
Babyland – Fucked EquipmentThis is such an incomplete list. The entire albums that those Ministry and NIN tracks are from are often put to use in these times. Some that also could have made the list are Cubanate, 16volt, Misfits, Godflesh, Chemlab, Sepultura….

bahaha…Natural Born Killaz.. I rememeber listening to that song about 25 times before every football game I ever played back in the day. I actually walked out to coin toss and forgot I even had my damn headphones on till the ref told me to take them off the field. Good Times!! Also cant go wrong with any 2pac especially “picture me rollin” just to give your mind that slight FU attitude for the rest of the day. Cheers

I have a playlist called “I hate everyone” that I lock myself in my office and listen to when that phrase starts running through my head at work. The playlist starts out with angry songs, then transitions into hopeful stuff at the end. Anyway, here’s the angry part:
1. “Porcupine” by Mary’s Danish
(sing a little song about hating everyone you know!)2. “Shitlist” by L7
(I write a list of all the people that won’t be missed…)3. “Live & Let Die” by Guns N’ Roses
4. “Outta Me, Onto You” by Ani DiFranco
(Just remember, you were warned…)5. “All You Fascists” by Billy Bragg & Wilco
(You’re bound to lose, you fascists are bound to lose.)
On
1 – Bad Day – Daniel Powter (just joshin ya!)
1 – Chickenshit Conformist – Dead Kennedys
2 – Slack Motherfucker – Firehose (although the original Superchunk is a fine stand-by)
3 – Rage Against the Machine – Killing in the Name
4 – Drive-By Truckers – Boys from Alabama
5 – Rollins Band – Low Self Opinion
MLP — nice to see the Antiseen love, or is that hate? i get so confused…

I haven’t heard that Catch 22 song in forever.

@nick Yeah it’s one of my old standby songs for a crappy day. I used to work at an ISP and our network manager was the coolest old chick I had ever met. We shared a lot of the same lack of patience for stupidity and a love for Jack Kerouac. That song reminds me of the day I walked past her office to go knock some sense into a dev and she asked how I was doing. My response “I have a map of tall building, a .308, and a very powerful scope.” She, being the bad ass she was, said, without blinking: “Need a spotter?” Love me some Catch 22 but that one holds a very special place in my heart since I haven’t seen good old Val in nigh on half a decade.

I’ll second NIN – “Wish”
2. Minor Threat – “I Don’t Wanna Hear It”
3. Flogging Molly – “What’s Left of the Flag”
4. Superchunk – “Yeah, It’s Beautiful Here Too” (I didn’t think of this till I read someone had “Slack Motherfucker.” Here’s Where The Strings Come In used to go on a lot after/during bullshit days)
5. Radiohead – “Bulletproof…I Wish I Was”
