TOP 3: TWO COW GARAGE

The decision of who to use for this week’s Top 3 was made for me when John Schnabel sent me a few pictures of Micah in the studio where he is currently recording his new solo album, I’m Dead, Serious.

While the decision of who to use may have been easy. The decision of which 3 songs to choose was not. This may be seen as sacrilege to some but going through the Two Cow Garage discography and trying to narrow my choices down to 3 songs made me realize how strong Two Cows body of work really is. It definitely rivals last weeks subject, The Drive-By Truckers.

Anyhow, like last week…pick your favorite three Two Cow Garage songs and leave them in the comments. Next week I’ll tally the results and post the Top 5 Two Cow Garage songs as voted by the 9B readers.

I know it’s hard. Hell, I left six songs on the cutting room floor and regret every one of them but narrow it down to 3 or your vote will not be included in the final tally.

Here are my three:

Burn In Hell: Technically, there are better Two Cow songs than “Burn In Hell” but I simply love this song. I think it also does a great job of catching a band when everything was still new and wonderful.

Should’ve California: The exact opposite of “Burn In Hell”. Miles of road, late nights and unpaid bills have a way of crushing spirits. “Should’ve California”, and much of Three for that matter, seems to show a road torn and weary band. As good as “No Shame” is I think “Should’ve California” is the best at capturing that emotion.

Skinny Legged Girl: For my money, possibly the smartest song Micah has ever written and while I know it’s not a crowd favorite it certainly is mine.
