I have no idea where Saskatchewan is and to be honest, if it wasn’t for copy/paste I wouldn’t be able to spell it the same way twice, but apparently winter really sucks in Saskatchewan. Being a Florida native, I do not know much about this thing the rest of North America calls winter, but by the brooding nature of Hang Me Oh Hang Me, the sophomre effort from Saskatchewan, Canada’s The Deep Dark Woods, I’m gonna guess that your head can find it’s way into some pretty dark corners in the midst of one.
The Deep Dark Woods are Ryan Boldt (guitar), Burke Barlow (guitar), Chris Mason (bass), and Lucas Goetz (drums), with all four sharing songwriting and vocal duties. I would describe their sound as brooding, electric folk with some country elements. If any of you are familiar with Blood Meridian’s debut cd, well, this album could have been the follow up to that. It’s a Sunday morning cd, if you get my drift.
