Active from 2005-2009, The Deep and Holy Sea featured the Mother of the Gainesville Scene, Samantha Jones (also of Crustaceans, Bitchin’, Rumbleseat, Cave Rave, and Cassette). The band was also helmed by David Turbeville, who now plays drums in The Felice Brothers. The Deep and Holy Sea was one of Jones’ mellower projects; they were a rocking chair, twilight, ice melted in your whiskey band–a sinking summer night in a song.
They are news in 2012 because they put their never-released album up on bandcamp for download (FREE, RIGHT HERE), so that we all may bask in their gorgeous trembling symphonies. The Deep and Holy Sea is very similar to Jones’ current band Cassette, so if you’re into it, you should seek out Cassette’s two albums on iTunes and look forward to a new album from them soon(ish).
Again, listen to this album in-full and grab it for FREE/A DONATION HERE.
