It’s a saturday and normally ninebullets is silent on the weekends but Florida is on fire and the smoke is keeping all of us inside so why not have a little fun?
They forgot the last part…Once you achieve maximum gothness you must deny that you even are gothic at all. Nobody has mastered this final step as well as Sisters of Mercy front man, Andrew Eldritch.
Speaking of the Sisters, here they are doing Gimme Shelter by the Rolling Stones much better than the Stones ever could:
Sisters of Mercy – Gimme Shelter
The Rolling Stones – Gimme Shelter
All this talk of goth reminds me of something I heard on sports talk radio the other day. A Nascar dude was being interviewed about Junior leaving DEI and as he is ending the interview he tells this joke:
Q. Why do they call it goth?
A. Because all the other four letter words were taken.
It wasn’t super funny but it was just so random I couldn’t help but to chuckle. Goth is so low on the totem pole even the Nascar fans get to ridicule them. Here is a pretty funny song done by Cledus T. Judd about Nascar. It is done to the music of Toby Keith’s song, I Love This Bar. Which, while I really do not like Toby Keith, is a really good song….even if it is overplayed in every dive bar juke box in America.

Nah … I think the Stones have the edge on ya there with Gimme Shelter – for sure. Maybe the Sisters of Mercy should sing their own stuff!

I do agree that the original is better – no question….But the SoM version was a huge deal when it came out in clubs in \’84/\’85…It was like everywhere, and gave the original a new lease on life…
