Last night when I heard MJ died my first thought was, “Damn, that sucks for Farrah”. Then I started looking at Twitter and the eulogizing was bordering on hyperbole.
Look. I grew up on Mike’s music just like many of you. Thriller was one of the very first albums I owned but that doesn’t change the fact that MJ was fucked up. F.U.C.K.E.D.U.P. Fucked Up. And don’t blame his childhood either…I have a theory that once you reach the age of 25 you’re an adult and trying to blame shit on your parents is a fucking cop-out.
Fact: If El DeBarge had the same history as MJ had and he would have died yesterday muthafuckers would have been, “good, one less pedophile in the world”….that’s some undeniable shit.
So. Let’s take the King of Pop crown, pass it on over to Justin Timberlake and let’s hope he stays away from the little kids.
Take me out Katt:

just got ahead of the curve and started my blog this morning. We’re only 12 hours into this thing, and “verging on hyperbole” is an understatement, at best. But, I realize, with that statement you were referring to last night’s coverage. I, for one, can’t wait to see the Princess Di style tribute that probably is already springing up at Neverland. Whoops – forgot – he lost that as a result of his fucked up misdirected life. RIP, Michael, but I won’t really miss you.

In all honesty, Michael’s music never meant much to me and it still doesn’t. I’ve never really understood the “genius” part. That’s not intended as a shot at the man, but just how I see it.
I feel sad for the dude to have been under that much pressure from, like, day three of his life. It’s a shame that he couldn’t have just walked before they made him run.
No offense intended towards Michael, but Joey Ramone’s (and eventually Dee Dee and Johnny) passing affected me much deeper.

Funny, funny stuff, AIV. Someone needs to take the shine off this, and I’m doing the best I can

I’m not trying to take the shine off anything, I’m just trying to put it all in perspective…

@BoneMachine Ditto the Joey Ramone bit. (Is your nick a Pixies reference?)

Someone had to say it. Thanks.

This is an excellent summation of almost exactly what I said to Daisy last night when I found out. Sure, music of our youth and all, but WTF? MJ was no Mother Teresa, it’s not like a huge contribution of goodness to the world has been lost.

I mostly concur and wrote about it last night.

Rumor has it that after the autopsy is done the coroner has decided with all the plastic in the body instead of a funeral they’re simply dropping the remains off at the local recycling center….

Well said, and it’s a pleasure to have your voice out there. The other thing that gets lost in all this personal crap (which he so deserves to be called on, don’t get me wrong) is the fact of what he did for the music industry. For a man who can’t write music, can’t play any instruments, and hardly acknowledged the Black stars who paved the way for him, he sure did help consolidate the big labels’ money. Because of his personal greed we’re all paying the price now.

interesting angle that, to be honest, I had not even thought about.

I’m still sad that Michael Jackson has died
