if you get a chance HWM's flight and a crash is an amazing album. I ask because that style of post hardcore, and country (both alt and traditional) are my favorite styles of music right now, and I'm still stunned by the cross over between them. I find it really cool that suburban home records, who put out punk albums from Denver local bands in the 90s, that I loved, has become the place to go to for the alt country bands that those bands become. cool shit

well. Honestly, by the time Hot Water Music came around I was out of high school and immersed in the industrial music scene. I'd not even heard of them until Ragan started releasing solo music. Same for Avail. I've watch a little bit of their material on YouTube but don't know enough from either band to speak intelligently on it. My punk knowledge is limited after the mid-80's era.

I love me some Fugazi though.
I was never much of a fan of At The Drive-in.
I can take or leave Cursive...if they are playing I am not gonna bitch but I'd never reach for one of their albums.

so I know I'm not the only one who has noticed the trend of talented punk rock and hardcore singers releasing solo albums ala Chuck Reagen (of the hot water music band) Tim Barry (of avail). I'm a huge hot water music fan, but I was wondering what your opinion of them was, and your take on that style of music (at the drive-in, cursive, rites of spring, fugazi...) in general
