Todd Snider – Just like old times
This is one of those songs that I liked the very first time I heard it. Twenty times later I finally starting to really listen to the lyrics. Then, I loved it.

Totally agree about this song, and am having much the same experience with it. I\\\’m surprised you didn\\\’t mention Carla though? The next song on the album, and in my opinion even better. Reminds me of Jackson Browne\\\’s Cocaine.
I\\\’m definitely loving Todd\\\’s staccato lyrical rhythms. Sort of hard to explain, but where you expect a pause he hits every beat with a syllable, really nice effect. But unfortunatley he\\\’s another one of those guys who\\\’s albums are half full of unlistenable songs. Why is that so common? Is it the record labels/producers? I never understand this phenomenon.
I posted this youtube link on your excellent Talking Blues writeup, but for anyone else landing on this page, here\\\’s another great Todd Snider song:

And as a side-note on the phenomenon of people who\\\’s albums are half unlistenable and half unimaginably great (Loudon Wainwright anybody?), it\\\’s interesting to note that those artists tend to be fantastic live.
