At the 35 second mark of track one, aptly titled “HellYeah”, I knew I was gonna like this CD…
Hellyeah is basically a metal ‘supergroup,’ featuring members of Pantera, Damageplan, Mudvayne and Nothingface. Drummer Vinnie Paul Abbott and bassist Bob Zilla of Pantera and Damageplan, vocalist Chad Gray and guitarist Greg Tribbett from Mudvayne, and guitarist Tom Maxwell of Nothingface. This is my kind of metal. Most of the new metal just doesn’t do it for me, it’s either too growly, too screamy or just too something. One of my friends who loves all that shit says the problem is that I’m just too old. That very well could be the case. Maybe the only metal I’m gonna like anymore is the metal that has the feel of the stuff I came up on, but I’m comfortable with that. Whatever it is that I like, Hellyeah has it in spades. Big drums, thick guitars, and grooves that get a hold of your ass and don’t wanna let go. This is ’95mph on the interstate at 3am with the windows down and the volume cranked to 11′ music. To quote Borat, “I Like”.
No music mention of the to words “Hell Yeah” in that order would be complete without at least a nod to the mighty Bloodhound Gang and their song of that title…..Bloodhound Gang – Hell Yeah….now this post can be completed.
But wait, there’s more. Since you acted today I will included this bizarre fan made music video…Numa Numa it’s not:
