The NQ in NQ Arbuckle stands for lead singer Neville Quinlan. Who knows where the Arbukle comes from but the remaining members of the band are Mark Kesper (drums), Peter Kesper (lead guitar) and John Dinsmore (bass). They come outta Toronto (that’s in Canada for all you W. Virginian folk) and XOK is their third effort. Admittedly, until this album landed on my desk I’d never heard of the band and on first listen I didn’t exactly notice the album but the moment it ended I knew I wanted to listen to it again. So I did. This scene played out about 5 times till I realized I was subconsciously in love with the album despite the fact that I hadn’t really heard it. So I did the only thing I could. I tossed it on the Shuffle, walked up to the corner bait store, bought some shrimp and took the album wade fishing.

I didn’t manage to catch anything that I could keep so far as seafood went, I did find an album that I am pretty much in love with. I recommend XOK to any fan of Willard Grant Conspiracy. Personally, I love the pent up tension in the songs.
