I did this with the last DBT album so I thought it would be fun to do it with The Big To-Do as well so I headed over to the always awesome Southern Shelter and collected live versions of all the songs on the album. The only track I couldn’t find was Track #13, “Eyes Like Glue” which is apparently sung by Cooley and will have to remain a surprise for the time being.
The Big To-Do is set to be released on ATO Records (yes, Dave Matthews’ label) on March 16. Till then, enjoy these live versions of the songs:
The Big To-Do Track Listing:
- Daddy Learned to Fly
- The Fourth Night of My Drinking
- Birthday Boy
- Drag the Lake Charlie
- The Wig He Made Her Wear
- You Got Another
- This Fucking Job
- Get Downtown
- After the Scene Dies
- (It’s Gonna Be) I Told You So
- Santa Fe
- The Flying Wallendas
- Eyes Like Glue
- Girls Who Smoke (Bonus track – vinyl only)

Shit, the new album IS going to rock. Also digging Wes Freed’s artwork, as always. Thanks for compiling this.

Eyes Like Glue is a solo acoustic Cooley song about one of his kids.

I think my favorite might be Birthday Boy, I haven’t totally decided yet. Love This Fucking Job though.

Just drove to Huntsville, AL to have the pleasure of finally seeing DBT play live last Thursday at Crossroads. Great show and was able to hear quite a few of these new songs. Patterson’s intro to “Girls Who Smoke” was pretty good – they’re in the UK in August dressed in t-shirts and shorts for a rock festival and it’s 38 degrees and raining and everywhere they look, folks are smoking, pissing on anything that moves and knee deep in mud. Also, Jay’s Hammond B-3 on “The Flying Wallendas” is ear-splitting live. Patterson really seemed to play off Jay all night, especially with the vocals.
