Most of you are probably more familiar with John’s son, Micah, from Two Cow Garage, but over the years Micah and John have occasionally put out cd-r releases of the two playing together. Matter of fact, it was on one such release that I heard “Swingset Assassin”, which is quickly becoming a Two Cow classic. A while back I was contacted by the elder Schnabel asking if I’d be interested in hearing his newest release even though it did not include Micah. “Hell Yes” was my reply.
This album is really reminiscent of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young-era Neil Young and I think this might be the most consistent and best release I’ve heard from The Hobo Jungle yet. I’m not really sure how the general population goes about getting this effort, but if you like the samples and wanna hear more, I’d guess that reaching out to John via myspace will lead you towards a copy of the album.

Definitely some neil young in him.
How’s that Deep Dark Woods sitting with you? That album is stellar.
Stellar is a great word.
I wish I could write about it tonight.
Does that Two Cow cd-r that you mentioned with ‘Swingset Assasin’ on it also have ‘Sadie Mae’ and an unreleased song ‘Florida Sunshine’? I came across those three tracks and was wondering if there was more to it.
The cd is titled “Inheritance” and it does include Swingset Assassin and Florida Sunshine but not Sadie Mae.
Sadie Mae and Swingset Assassin are also on the new Two Cow album, Speaking in Cursive.
