Yesterday a buddy of mine pointed out that our man, Chuck Ragan, contributed music to a new short film entitled It’s Better In The Wind. From what I can glean from the project’s web site it started out as an idea for a photo book and a trip:

Because we read “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, and were taught that art is a path chosen by those who will themselves into the unknown. Because we watched ‘Easy Rider’ and want to find that for ourselves rather than from a television.

Today we face a world that is unkind to change, filled with the reluctance of apathy. Pioneers are just faceless figurines in museums, rather than part of tomorrow’s manifesto.

There is something to be cherished in our wide open spaces, if only the chance to breathe an unknown air, in search of a new way forward.

The book was printed in 2010 as a limited edition and reprinted a few months later (you can purchase here) but photographer, Scott Toepfer felt there was more story to be told. Enter, It’s Better In The Wind. As Scott explains; “After the book released, I wasn’t exactly satisfied with leaving the project, and sought after more ways to capture the fun and the experience of being on the road with friends on bikes. And instead of telling the same old tough guy story, I figured a good natured short film on “doing what you can with what you have,” was just the sort of story I would like to tell.

  1. I know the feeling. Trouble is once you experience the freedom and peace of mind you are addicted.
