There’s no monument there’s no stone here to see him
Just black asphalt flanked by high rise hospital chains
To a true and honest hero Prosser’s Gabriel
My conscience says he’s the one that history missed
Tim Barry‘s song on his last album, 28th & Stonewall, was probably the first time 99.9% of his fans had ever heard of Gabriel Prosser. It certainly was the first time I’d ever heard of him or his story. Well, it floated across Tim’s Facebook profile today that the VCU University parking lot that was covering what is largely accepted to be an old Africa American burial ground and likely final resting place for Gabriel is being removed.
How much of a role in this Tim’s song played is unknown but it’d be foolish to believe that it played no role at all.

Great song. I grew up in VA but never heard the story until last year, and your right 99,9% of VA doesnt even know the story. This is one part of VA history they left out in school.
WHAT IS THIS?!
