While we are on the topic of rock and roll that isn’t necessarily out to save the world, I would like to mention an album that has been in heavy rotation in my work cubicle. Dirty Sweet’s debut cd, Of Monarchs and Beggars. Can you hear the Zep and Stones influence on their music? Even if you’re deaf, but it doesn’t matter. The album is too damned much fun to just brush off as just another 70′s throwback effort…even if they pulled their name from a T-Rex song and look like they could have been on an America cover.

If you are a fan of the straight-ahead rock and roll sound, ala Tesla, Zeppelin or American Minor, then you should check these fellas out. Hook-y as hell, with the proper rockers to wailers ratio, this is a cd that I would have killed for when I was in high school, but I’ll just as happily take it now. While this album ain’t saving the world, it will make for a good party album…which will reduce stress….which will prevent heart attacks…so, I guess one could say Dirty Sweet and rock and roll will save your life after all, and if that ain’t Essential Listening, then I just don’t know what is.

Now, turn this shit up and smile:

Dirty Sweet – Delilah
Dirty Sweet – Born to Bleed
Dirty Sweet – Baby Come Home
