Despite residing in my home state for most of this blog’s existence, having toured with one of my favorite bands (The Builders and The Butchers), and their latest album, Go And Sell All Of Your Things, having been out since April 2011, this is Damion and Co’s first appearance on ninebullets.net. This is more a statement of my failure as a blogger than anything else and I am here to make amends.
Damion Suomi is the singer/acoustic guitar player and The Minor Prophets and they are Gavin Little, David Fountain, Ian Little and Zac Sullivan. Their sound has the same spiritual lyricism of, say, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, but musically they more similar to The Builders and The Butchers or O’Death with a definite “Irish bar band”/Frank Turner twist, and that’s just the opening track, “The Call”. From there we’re presented with 11 more tracks full of Bible references, spiritual questions and human observations. All done, and I mean this is the nicest way, in a style that I am constantly amazed is coming from my home state.
