Every now and then an album from “back in the day” manages to find its way back into my car and into uber-heavy rotation for a couple of weeks/months. I think it may be my head needing the occasional break from the constant barrage of new music and just wanting to relax and groove on something awesome, familiar and comfortable. A couple of weeks ago America’s Volume Dealer by Corrosion of Conformity came back into my consciousness and I’ve pretty much been jamming it every day since.

While America’s Volume Dealer may have been the biggest commercial failure of C.O.C.’s discography since they went metal, IMO it was their best album to date. A lot of people seem to pan the album for being “too lite” or “too commercial”, but I think if you listen to the discography in order you find the step from Wiseblood to America’s Volume Dealer to be natural. I think it’s the band finding its groove. Too bad they couldn’t follow it up on In The Arms of God.

Anyhow, since I’ve been rocking the album pretty steady I thought I’d show it a little love here on 9b. Now here’s the real question, will we ever get another C.O.C. album? Cause, on the real, I’d rather have a mediocre new C.O.C. album than another Down album…Come on Pepper!
