I’m not even a baseball fan but I gotta offer up some props to the Rays. Last night I sat in a football stadium in a football town and watched 65,000 people watch a single scoreboard in the corner of the stadium waiting for it to change. You could feel a run score in waves. Some one on a radio would cheer, then he would announce it to his little section and then like a Britney Spears nipple slip pic on the internet word would spread about the run and a cheer would start to rumble up while 65,000 people stared at a static scoreboard. BOSTON 1 RAYS 1….stare…Warrick Dunn offtackle for 4 on 3rd and 7….BOSTON 1 RAYS 2….the crowd goes wild. By the end of the game 90% of Tampa Stadium was in the concourses watching the baseball game on the little TVs and after the Bucs game ended the stadium put the last 2 innings up on the jumbo-tron…nobody left.
I live, literally, walking distance from Tropicana Field. I have no idea what the remainder of this week will be like. I assume getting around the city will be a pain in the ass for a few days but that’s a small price to pay for the event that’s about to unfold.
Congrats to all you Rays fans…old and new a like. Enjoy it. I wish I liked the sport so that I could to.

Amen — and I’m a Yankees fan.
While I’m here, thanks for the great music.
Nice article. Thanks.

Congrats to the Rays (grudgingly) – they outplayed m’Red Sox and deserved to win.
