Putting the disappointment that was A Secret House Against The World behind him, Buck 65 returns with an album that either is or isn’t about the year 1957, depending on the review you read. Billing this album as a “return of the drum”, I’m happy to announce that Buck has abandoned the sonic oddities of his last release and has come back with a genuine hip hop feel….well, hip hop Buck 65 style. Situation isn’t so much about a specific year, rather, it is about a link between the then and the now. Pointing out how the more things change the more they stay the same (a la: the culture of fear and sexual puritanism), as well as offering Buck a chance to ramble in dead-pan style about the Beats, police brutality and the space race. I really wanted to write about this cd to tell Buck 65 fans that may have given up on him after the last few releases to give this cd a chance.
Buck is back. Check it out.
