no doubt.
I just feel like, lyrically this album is repetative and at times...hokey.
I still listen to it though.

I think it's safe to say the old line "opinions are like a**holes" lends itself to music reviews. The depth of lyrical ability from this band rivals anything that's been released in recent years. It's the ability to tell a story that makes for great music...both musically & lyrically. For me, Good To Be does just that. The album takes you on a journey with characters that every person can relate to. It's not safe and it's certainly not relatable to 99% of the trash that is released today.

I say refreshing...but then again my opinion is just another a**hole.

I love this album. It kind of snuck up on me since they skipped Madison on their latest tour (not that I'm complaining - they've played here plenty and I'm guilty of skipping on them the last time they were in town) and I didn't know it was coming out. It made for a nice surprise when I was browsing the racks last week. I recognized a good deal of the songs from seeing them live before or from their 30 Minute Music Hour show last year (http://wpt2.org/media.cfm?id=430&category=30MMH) so this felt real familiar. I don't see the lyrical laziness myself, but I've never been a lyrics guy either.

I'm pretty confident it'll rank quite high in my 2010 lists, though I'll be the first to say that this year is seeing a ton of great new releases.
