In sticking with the Florida theme the site has taken here at the end of this week I’d like to talk about a 7″ split coming out on Suburban Home Records later this month (July 21).
After the recording sessions for what would become his debut album, Somebody Loves you, Austin Lucas decided to take some time off and head down to Florida to visit his family. While here he hooked up with Suburban’s newest find, Gainesville’s own, The Takers and they recorded a 4 song EP consisting of (2) originals and (2) covers.

A note on The Takers: Virgil and Co. are keeping a tight lid on these fellas but lemme tell you. They are *fantastic*. Any fan of ninebullets is gonna be a fan of them….I can’t wait to post about their debut.

I have to agree completely on the Takers. I heard em on the new suburban home sampler and I can’t get enough it reminds me of when I first discovered DTR… literally counting the days till the release
Thanks for sharing. And thanks for the Takers’ love. They are great guys, they are an amazing band, and their debut album, “Taker Easy” is something we at Suburban Home are so proud of. We are cooking up something sweet to do with Nine Bullets for their album release so stay tuned.

The Takers opened for Drag The River when I saw them in January and they were amazing. Prior to the show I had only heard ‘Curse of a Drunk’ and ‘Drift’ from SH samplers and I loved those two songs. They blew the roof off the joint when they played ‘St. Johns Son’ Hopefully it is just as good on the record. I am eagerly awaiting the Citrus Ciruit tour to hit Lake Worth FL.
I’ve shared bills with The Takers a few times the last 6 months, with both my bands, Have Gun Will Travel, and The Diviners, and my new favorite jam is ‘friends in bottles’. Head over to myspace.com/thetakershonkytonk and open up some bottles! Devon, chad, ronnie and the boys are all great fucking guys and deserve all the success that is coming their way. Their CD release is June 23 at The Atlantic in G’ville, and then we’re straight to the Citrus Circuit tour w Lauris Vidal, Truckstop Coffee, and Have Gun Will Travel!
