On Saturday I watch a once proud football program give it’s death rattle.

Embarrassing isn’t even a strong enough word.

I’m convinced at this point that as long as Bobby is the figurehead for the Seminoles the program will continue to wallow in complete mediocrity, December bowl games and middle of the pack ACC finishes.

  1. It seems to me (as an outsider, not FSU fan) that Bowden hasn’t been anything more than a face and recruiter at FSU. That will work for a while but there comes a time when you need some new young blood to get the players AND fans fired up again. He was that guy many years ago.

Problem I see is you’ve got Jimbo Fisher waiting in the wings as the HC in waiting so when Bowden steps down it won’t really change a whole lot. It seems like he does all the coaching on the sidelines as it is.

Is it just me or are Paterno and Bowden just sitting there waiting each other out?

  2. They’re totally trying to outlast one another for that stupid wins record.

  3. also, while Jimbo may not be better…he’s easier to fire when the time comes.

  4. I am a football fan,but I don’t really follow college too much. But I think it is great how well the Bulls have done in these passed seasons. They have been tearin’ it up!!

  5. True..I also dont thing Jimbo is even close to the answer. If he doesnt get a Right Tackle pronto and Mickey find some safeties somewhere middle of the pack ACC may be a strecth.

  6. I think it’s all but certain that this is Bobby’s final season. Correct me if I’m wrong but in Jimbo’s contract it states that if he isn’t given the head coaching position by 2010 he is owed $5-10 million dollars from FSU. I can’t imagine they would be willing to shell out that kind of money to someone that is just going to walk away.

The difference between Joe & Bobby is that Joe actually coaches. Joe has the final say in all coaching decisions, and is extremely vocal and involved on the sidelines during a game. Bobby on the other hand is little more than a spectator. I remember when watching the Miami/FSU game the only time Bobby had any input was at the end of the game and Jimbo basically brushed him off. It’s not fair to Joe to lump him and Bobby together just because they’re both old.

  7. He could at least act like he’s trying by wearing a headset.

  8. Hey, man.

Thanks for reading my article on the Daily Loaf. Glad to see we’re on the same page.
