5 greatest ol' school hip-hop albums ever…

The folks over at Vinyl Fever sent out an interesting Myspace bulletin today:

You tell us. What do you think the 5 best old school hip hop albums are? We are talking 5 albums you think every head should own, and no record store should ever be out of.

My response:

NWA – Straight Outta Compton
Beastie Boys – Licensed to Ill
Run DMC – Raising Hell
Goodie Mob – Sill Standing
Outkast – Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik

Though the last 2 may not be “Old School” they should be in every store IMO….Send them a message with your list….and if you do it, leave it in the comments.

  1. Snoop Doggy Dogg…Doggy style
    that should be in there
and as far as east coast
Wu Tang Clan…enter the 36 chamber

  2. Where is Public Enemy – It takes a Nation of Millions to Hold us Back?
What about Ice-T Power? The Rock Steady Crew, KRS-One? Erik B & Rakim.

Outkast and Goodie Mob are NEW SCHOOL… They are great albums though.

  3. Okay… so I don’t have access to MySpace anymore, but I hope to high hell VF put Dr. Dre’s – The Chronic on the list.

  4. I have to agree about The Chronic, and I didn’t even like it.

And I’d definitely keep License to Ill and Raising Hell on the list.
