So, I’ve decided to do this facebook 30 Day Song Challenge (you can see previous days here) thing and I figured I’d do it here on ninebullets. Feel free to contribute your thoughts in the comments section.

When reading through the list of subjects each day had the first time I just assumed this day would feature a song from Lucero’s self-titled album but the longer I thought about it the clearer it became that that was not gonna be the case. Look, I know I pan on the Truckers sometimes but the truth is, up through The Dirty South they could do no wrong and if I were forced to sit in a room and only listen to 1 album for the rest of my days, The Dirty South would be that album so here’s my favorite song from it:

The Drive-By Truckers – Never Gonna Change

  1. I agree…if locked in a room with only 1 album, it would have to be a DBT one. The only question for me is Dirty South or Decoration Day? Since you took option 1, I’ll take option 2 and hope those rooms are within earshot.

    The Drive-By Truckers – Heathens

  2. It’s a tie between Avail – Over the James and Lucero – TMFW

I’ll say Lucero – Hate and Jealousy

  3. I would have to say it is ‘Sterilize’ by Drag The River. That song just has the perfect mix of fuzzed out electric guitar and acoustic guitar. I used to frequently go to sleep with Hobos Demos and 4 other random discs playing on repeat in my cd changer and would usually wake up to hear Sterilize in the wee hours of the morning. It was kind of eery I always woke up to the same song.

  4. statue of jesus off of ‘let’s go scare al’by the gear daddies — there were plenty of contenders and UT, DBT, Sidewinders, Lucero et al were right there in the running – but when push comes to shove it’s always been the Gear….

  5. This was is shit hard. I don’t have a favorite album and it’d take me an hour of staring at the stacks to only come up with five. but these come to mind right off.

    slobberbone-pinball song from EYTWRWRT
steve earle-mercenary song from train a’comin’

  6. @Alex Supertramp

Love your pick of “Statue Of Jesus”; one of my all-time favorite songs.

    Son Volt: “Windfall” from TRACE
