30 DAY SONG CHALLENGE: DAY 1:

So, I’ve decided to do this facebook 30 Day Song Challenge thing and I figured I’d do it here on ninebullets. Feel free to contribute your thoughts in the comments section. So, without further ado:

DAY 01: YOUR FAVORITE SONG:

My initial thought; “gimmie a fucking break.”

There is no way on earth I could settle on a “favorite song”. Hell, I tried but the process proved to be far more difficult and frustrating than I could have imagined so I took the easy way out. I just looked at my Lastfm stats and decided to use the song I’d played the most and as it turns out, I am very happy with that selection:

Scott H. Biram – Long Fingernail

What’s your most listened to song?

  1. Most listened to song on my Ipod? Pinball Song Slobberbone. Last count it had been played 157 times in the last year.

  2. Artist, album, song – AWESOME.

I don’t use LastFM or any of those things, but the most played track on my ipod is FUGAZI – WAITING ROOM. I doubt I’ll ever get tired of that song.

  3. my most-played song on ITUNES is Blood on the Knobs — Glossary. . .i would guess any tune off better angels could be number 1, why not that one. . .

“Maybe I’ve wasted all my time like a fool. . .But I’ve heard pain tear itself out of a piece of wood. . .”

    yep. . .me too. . .

  4. song – I WANNA CONQUER THE WORLD
    artist – BAD RELIGION

probably favorite song, not necessarily the most played on the ipod but at least several dozen times a year for the last 18 or so years.

  5. iTunes says my most-played song is Lucero’s “Tears Don’t Matter Much”.

  6. Agreed. favorite song? – seriously, what the hell – favorite song this week – William Elliott Whitmore “Midnight”

  7. iTunes is telling me my most played song is ‘Old Enough'[featuring Ricky Skaggs and Ashley Monroe] by The Raconteurs a close second is ‘Breaker, Breaker’ by Austin Lucas…followed by ‘Shakin” by Eddie Money. Yes, that Eddie Money.

  8. Acrimony blues just edges out Hallowed Ground. I’m in for this, could be fun.

  9. Zip City is gonna get the slight nod over Midnight Rider I guess.. and your right that shat is ridiculously hard to do.

  10. I remember, maybe 20 – 25 years ago, Spin Magazine had a feature on the 30 Top Singles of All Time. Number 1 was “It Takes Two” by Rob Base. Not because it was the best song of all time, but because it was the best at the moment. I thought their logic was challenging, but accurate. Sometimes my kids will ask me, “What’s your very favorite song?” and I’ll reply, “You mean, today?” With that in mind, the song I’ve played most for the past week or so is Geto Boys “Damn It Feels Good to be a Gangsta”. Stumbled across it on an old mixtape and it rang my bell again like it did in the old days. Right before that, DBT’s “I Do Believe” was a two-week earworm I couldn’t shake. Next week – who knows?

  11. Not sure what I would find, but itunes says Idle Idylist by Mr Tim Fucking Barry…I guess I should have known it would be a Tim Barry song

  12. according to my ipod its exact same # of plays between Lucero’s Sixes and Sevens and TCG’s Shelby. Probably cause they were two songs I was playing alot practicing dancing in my 6 inch heels for my wedding.
Right now, with all I have going on i my life I have to Say, Tim Barry’s Wait at Milano is almost on permanent repeat, sometimes I cry sometimes I smile, but it’s a lesson learned when loss hits so quick and close to home.

I do agree with Shayne, it definately chanes from day to day.. or in my case mood to mood cause they change quite frequently throughout a days time.

  13. Favorite… no way.
    Favorite today… nearly as hard.
Most played… because I use my ipod as a tool, this wouldn’t count. It would just show the last song I learned to play.

    So… gotta pick one anyway.

Van Morrison – Cul De Sac

  14. My most played is a tie between The Hold Steady’s “The Swish” and the Lawrence Arms’ “Are You There Margaret? It’s Me, God.” I could make a strong argument for both as being my second favorite, but the Dillinger Four’s “Doublewhiskeycokenoice” has always been my favorite.

  15. I have to go with a song from my top list, like AIV, but I can’t take the top song since I left an album on repeat at work over the weekend. So here’s the real top song from my last.fm playlist:

Prison Book Club – Heart of Lead

I am pretty happy with that one. It has been a top song of mine for a while.

  16. I’ll just go with a new favorite from a new album

    Jason Isbell – We’ve Met
